Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: PUERTO CALDERA PORT/ISLA NEGRITOS, COSTA RICA

Arrival at Puerto Caldera port for embarkation, welcome reception and safety drill. Depart for late evening arrival in Isla Negritos.

Day 2: QUEPOS, COSTA RICA

Morning arrival in Quepos for our transfer to the Manuel Antonio Reserve, today's optional excursion and one of the highlights of the cruise. The Reserve is the most popular national park in Costa Rica, with its natural beauty apparent in the white sand beaches and lush tropical forests. It's not uncommon to encounter animals such as sloths, iguanas, and coatimundis throughout the park, as well as four different species of monkeys. After lunch, you can take part in one of the optional Forest Canopy excursions before our afternoon sailing to nearby Playa Biesanz. Enjoy a swim in this hidden cove, followed by a tropical dinner and party. Late evening sailing to Golfo Dulce/Puerto Jimenez. Overnight at sea.

Day 3: PUERTO JIMENEZ/GOLFO DULCE, COSTA RICA

We reach Puerto Jimenez in the early morning for the optional Osa Peninsula excursion. This small town, with a history of logging and gold mining, is now part of a protected region, as one of the main entranceways to Corcovado National Park. Our journey into the park offers an opportunity to glimpse some rare and endangered species, such as the scarlet macaw. We return to the ship for a late lunch while we cross Golfo Dulce towards Casa Orquideas Private Reserve. A magnificent botanical sanctuary, Casa Orquideas has a particularly exquisite collection of orchids, for which the reserve was named. Explore the extensive and well-kept grounds, with time for a swim before we depart. We then sail to Golfito for immigrations and ship clearance processes, followed by an overnight sailing to Cebaco Island. Overnight at sea.

Day 4: CALETA CAIMAN/RESTINGUE ISLAND, PANAMA CEBACO ISLAND

This morning we arrive at Restingue Island for an amazing swimming and snorkeling experience on Playa Caleta Caiman. Around noon, we will sail to nearby Cebaco Island for a beach BBQ. There will be time to enjoy this beautiful beach before our early afternoon sailing to Playa Muerto, Darién, Panama. Overnight at sea.

Day 5: PLAYA MUERTO, DARIÈN, PANAMA

Disembark in Playa Muerto for an optional excursion in the Darién National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Park features a variety of habitats, from rocky coasts to tropical rainforests, and is inhabited by innumerable species of flora and fauna. On our foray into the park, we will be welcomed by the Embera Indians, one of the 7 indigenous groups living in Panama. They are a proud and very friendly people, known for their beautiful handicrafts and well-preserved traditions. Overnight at anchor.

Day 6: PEARL ISLANDS, PANAMA

Early morning sailing to the Pearl Islands, an archipelago of about 250 small islands famous for isolated white sand beaches and abundant marine life. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling and a beach BBQ before departing for an early afternoon sailing to Panama City.

Day 7: PANAMA CITY, PANAMA

Morning optional excursion to the Gatun Lake, a large artificial lake part of the Panama Canal system. At the center of the lake is Guacha Island, a wildlife sanctuary, which is home to ample indigenous wildlife such as iguanas and monkeys. Explore Fort San Lorenzo, a historical Spanish fort and one of the oldest fortresses in the Americas. Visit the Panama Canal Expansion Observation Center in Gatun and enjoy lunch there before returning to Panama City to visit the Canal Museum, where we may watch the movements of ships in the locks.

Day 8: FLAMENCO MARINA, PANAMA CITY, PANAMA

Arrival in Flamenco Marina for disembarkation.

Vessel

The elegant Motor Yacht Callisto recently joined the VARIETY CRUISES fleet and is true to her name: Elegant, classic. She was fully refit / rebuilt in 2000 and was thoroughly renovated in in 2015-16.
